Welcome to the Condor Echo. By human, for human, sometimes about AI.
About Me
I have a somewhat chaotic background. A chemical engineer by training with biomedical research experience. I pivoted into data science in a role that then rapidly switched into cloud architecture and operations. I spent some time contracting and consulting with large companies before moving in to the startup field. Working with a cybersecurity platform from the ground up gave me a better understanding of that zero to one stage. How to move a product from concept to compliant enterprise implementations at scale. Admittedly also a lot of what not to do along that journey. The current start up I am at is centered around applied AI. I think that is one of the most interesting spaces to be in, with rapid production of poorly understood tools that can completely change a company, but only if applied correctly. The novelty of experience there, combined with my general career experience, and a desire to be more social in general inspired this website finally being created. I have written two books, neither of which I particularly feel like publishing, but did help to make me a better writer with a broader range of interests. I consider good writing and human interest to be invaluable skills in navigating both AI interactions and life in general.
What will I write about? I’d consider this the professional writing collection, but not exclusively technical. ἄριστος, or “aristos” is the goal. Meaning the most fitting, or most excellent, if a topic can encourage the cultivation of excellence it may find its way here. That’s a lofty goal, and I should also note I am a believer in a high degree of pragmatism, which especially the technical work will reflect. To quote Anatol Holt, “A brilliant chess move while the room is filling with smoke because the house is burning down does not show intelligence." Most of the work done in industry is at least in a smoke filled room, if not directly in the fire, and the moves taken should reflect that. Personally, if not professionally, I believe we should strive for enough freedom from smoke and fire to develop more thoughtful human interests, and some of my topics will reflect that.
I am currently working remotely from Tampa, Florida, and am a father of one child so far.
